A court has heard that Justin Stein , who is accused of killing Charlise Mutten , texted the girl's mother that he was broken in so many ways and "the worst father".The accused killer of Charlise Mutten sent text messages to the girl's mother saying, "I'm the worst father" and "I'm broken" on the day he had allegedly murdered the nine-year-old, a supreme court jury has heard.
Mr Stein allegedly told his partner he left Charlise at the Mount Wilson property with a real estate agent who was there to value items at the home for sale. In January 2022, Charlise Mutten's body was found in a barrel on the banks of the Colo River four days after she went missing. The court heard Mr Stein sent Ms Mutten the text messages about being a bad father on the drive back to the caravan park.
Mr McKay said the couple spent the night at the Mount Wilson property, where Ms Mutten looked through Mr Stein's phone and saw he had used online dating apps and texted one of her friends. On Wednesday, the trial heard Justin Stein left multiple voice messages on Ms Mutten's phone demanding she bring back the car, including one where he is heard saying "guess what the other car just started, I've got me f****** guns and I'm going to f****** kill you now".The grandfather of Charlise Mutten has told court of his granddaughter's unconditional love for her mother and her question about whether her accused killer would make a good father.
