Japan's Mount Aso, on the island of Kyushu, sends plumes of ash 3.5 kilometres high after it erupts, raising an alert for lava flows and falling rocks.

A volcanic eruption in southern Japan has blasted ash kilometres into the sky and prompted official warnings against the threat of lava flows and falling rocks.Mount Aso, which stands 1,592 metres above sea level, is among the largest volcanoes in the worldWhile a check of climbers is under way, there are no casualties

Japanese officials have warned locals not to approach the area, due to the risk of large falling rocks and pyroclastic flows within a radius of about 1km around the mountain's Nakadake crater. Television networks broadcast images of a dark cloud of ash looming over the volcano that swiftly obscured large swathes of the mountain.

CHO details Queensland's COVID 'worst case scenario'Queensland could see COVID-19 cases soar over 1,000 each day if “worst case scenario” modelling were realised, Chief Health Officer Dr Jeanette Young has said. It's the right course of action to open the borders when targets are met but of course. Prepare for the worst. Hope for the best. And work to achieve that. And? We have 40k cases per day in the U.K. Cases are not deaths. You can’t control the virus by controlling peoples lives and destroying livelihoods, it doesn’t work. There is a vaccine now, that’s the best it will get. Time to let it rip through society and move on. Cue the fear mongering.
