Crossbench senator Jacqui Lambie says she is willing to reconsider her support for the Morrison government's union-busting laws if they include measures to remove controversial construction union boss John Setka.
Senator Jacqui Lambie says she is willing to reconsider her support for the Morrison government's union-busting bill.Senator Lambie slammed the government for its lack of consultation on the bill, which was sunk when she and One Nation senators Pauline Hanson and Malcolm Roberts voted against along with Labor and the Greens on Thursday.
- the boss of the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union Victorian division - did not resign his post."The trouble is that this was never going to get rid of John Setka. And my amendments, we believe, would have done that," Senator Lambie told the ABC on Sunday."Nobody wanted to discuss anything with us across the table. We had the amendments.
He later quit the Australia Labor Party following attempts from federal leader Anthony Albanese to remove him while ACTU secretary Sally McManus called for for him to resign as union secretary.
Also include removal of company executives that knowingly under pay their staff, put their staff lives at risk and allowing their organisation to be used for criminal activities JacquiLambie
Reconsidering Fairdinkum.
To be taken away.. just like the weekend and overtime rates.. where people sacrifice their time to be compensated.. taken away.. and then the Liberals wonder of we have to pump more money into society.. after we took it away!!!!
This is all too common of a practise.. a vote is considered..and then not to the liking and redone. After what? bribes.. money.. Unions protect the person.. for good reason. History took ages for them to be brought about.. and 5 minutes destruction of the Liberals.
Morrison is close to the landlord upstairs but he can't walk on water.JSetka can't be removed by the stroke of a pen. You can't make him a bargaining chip. Help make laws that address the situation for everyone's benefit in the future.
😳😳😳😳 An integrity trade off? Bahaaaah
Hey AlboMP look Jacki is doing the job you couldn’t you poor weak man
Get rid of CFMEU
Jackie lapdogs to liberals if let’s bill pass not standing up workers in tassie. Your people who put there going short lived in parliament
She needs to show loyalty to Australian workers
JacquiLambie Dear Senator Lambie, If this media article is correct? I have to say with respect, that whilst I agree that Setka be removed from his job - to agree to the LNP governments draconian Union busting legislation would be a great injustice for all blue collar workers
I hope she doesn’t
Fab !! He needs to go.
This is getting stupid now. Lnp lost get over it. Senator lambie hopefully stick to her guns
She can go the same way the democrats went. Another bad call from Tasmania
You don’t make laws for one person that’s just stupid
Leveraging government inducements.
Just resign & head back to the pub... NFI
frankelly08 And focus the legislation on the law breaking sections of unions and not a scatter gun approach.
First u gave the rich tax cuts now you want to shutdown unions next both parties will one day get together to shut down minor parties and just leave labor ,liberal, greens and nationals as the only political parties in the country auspol
His removal is a matter for his union, not politicians.
frankelly08 I thought it was too good to be dependable.
That’s ridiculous? The laws themselves are the consideration. Not a personal vendetta. This is the issue with the senate voting - nimrods like this deciding policy
Ridiculous
What about removing those anti male female journalists from The Age and ABC while you are doing a cleanup job. Do you ever think your Army job was part of institutionalised violence OR was it euphemistically just 'defence'?
rharris334 Jacqui how about a corporate busting bill auspol
Whatever emotion takes them on the day is the way they vote, change their minds tomorrow though, it’s their prerogative of course.
She did not say that. She said she would consider only if it did not affect anyone else. At the moment it affects all union and union members
She is a deeply strange person. But, if we are going to put names in a law how about we outlaw Bill Shorten
