Chinese student Joyce Fung spent six months delving into the dark recesses of the lucrative essay cheating industry that she says is symptomatic of a deeper malaise.

Xu, who did not want to disclose her first name, is doing her undergraduate degree in China and she makes money by writing assignments for Chinese undergraduate students in American universities.she thinks is"probably" based in China."I only know that my handler might be in China because of his photos on WeChat. As Australia's Government tries to crackdown against contract cheating in universities, professional cheating services continue to flourish online.

Her handler offered her a full-time job to write more essays, but her title would be"legal staff" in the company. On Meeloun Education's official WeChat account the agency is registered as Gaoxin District Meilun Education Consulting Service Department. And according to the Chinese National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System, the agency is a legal subsidiary enterprise registered for education consulting services — one that has no record of administrative penalties or abnormal operations. The ABC contacted Meeloun Education for comment, but they did not respond by publication time.

With no brands, nor websites, they reach the Chinese students mostly through WeChat. Some are shared among students by word of mouth.

Just imagine whats weaved itself in our political scene then.

Been going on for years, not just Chinese though Indians heavily involved, Uni must know it’s gong on when someone with limited English turns in a word perfect assignment. Paid my money ...where’s my degree

I had a person working for me in Admin, apparently his papers said working for a company in IT! It was fraud yet the authorities did nothing ...we encourage this type of behaviour

The real rort here is decades of underfunding of unis by Aust government to such extent that they have to lower their admission standards to attract enough fee paying international students to fund their teaching/research activities. To label an entire race as cheat? Pathetic ABC

This is not a new thing.

This is not new news, if a student can barely speak English and then turns in a well written assignment in English that should ring alarm bells. Clearly it doesn’t...$$$ too important from foreign students to keep university coffers

Dear ABC (and IPA shills), you have supported conservative governments for years which have brought us significant cuts to universities who are now reliant on funding through overseas students. This here is called an unintended consequence.

What about the Australian education system which rorts them? Our system charges them millions of dollars in fees irrrespective of whether they have the ability to pass courses. Our whole tertiary system is based on high fees for overseas students.

Those Chinese just can't get anything done without cheating. Anything. Kick then out.

Then they need to be made to LEAVE. This is Unacceptable

The Chinese rorting Australia... I'm shocked
