It's not women of 'merit' that are lacking, it's women fullstop

Diversity makes the parliament better; ensuring a range of views and experiences are heard and reducing the risk of group think.

The Liberal Party doesn’t need more women of "merit" – it needs more women full stop. And if the Prime Minister is so concerned about the total merit pool being reduced? There are more than a few meritless male parliamentarians for whom he could make a direct swap.

We should consider an all-female parliament if only to redress centuries, no, thousands of years of bias against women.

I have read the article of Jamila. And disagree with her. Merit must be for men and woman base on experience and values. And should be base on the right person for the job. Labor quoters is base on numbers of woman not the value and abilities.

Do most think our govt does much better now and living stadards have improved now that we have had many women in govt and as premiers compared to previously when there were hardly any?

Looking for oppression, try Iran. Here make or female you have free will, you get to choose a path but you might not make it. Same as their are few female interstate truckers or bricked...no oppression there either.

It’s not exactly PC to distinguish who’s male and who’s female anymore. Men can give birth and women can drive trucks. Gender fluidity has caused mayhem at public toilets and has killed any notion of a gender pay gap. The SMH is so yesterday.
