'This stunning image should scare us’

The event released 10 times the energy produced by the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima in World War II, despite going largely unnoticed.

The 173-kiloton explosion was only 40 per cent as powerful as the Chelyabinsk blast, but it came dangerously close to routes used by major airlines that often fly over the Bering Sea. “It is a scary reminder that there are these terrifyingly large rocks travelling at nearly 100,000 kms per hour when they slam into the Earth,” he told news.com.au. “Anything moving that fast has a lot of energy. This particular meteor had something like 10 times the energy of the Hiroshima bomb.

It released a shockwave that shattered thousands of windows and injured more than 1600 people, and its flash was bright enough to temporarily blind 70 people and cause dozens of skin-peeling sunburns just after dawn in the icy Russian city.

A matter of life and death: Recognising a 'last warning shot' in family violenceA woman who survives being strangled is up to seven times more likely to die at the hands of their partner. I was strangled before he ended up kicking me and breaking my ribs. Luckily I managed to get away after that. I didn't realize that marriage was a potential death sentence. It's good that these laws are being reviewed. please think about content warnings this is very traumatic triggering content. War on violence (men) will never be won, just like the war on drugs, police know this. Yes it is extremely complicated beyond your inner city lefty imaginations. Perhaps take the stolen generation ideology, state locks up only men, without legal re & rights

Part-time work is a full-time problem for younger workersJobs growth has been the one solid plank in a wobbly Australian economy since the global financial crisis, but young workers are still struggling to get a foothold in secure full-time work. True. But this isnt just about youth. Its also about parents of the next gen of workers also being relegated part time. Its also about the parents who want fulltime to support farm income but cant get it because of rural business decline, or cant leave the farm. Absolutely and the unions are to blame. My person experience I was in the retail unions when Shorten was leader and he negotiated our rights away bit by bit with every eba. Last one was good for older workers who already had full time workers
