ANALYSIS: Is this really the end of Hobart's cable car?

Mr Oldfield indicated MWCC was unlikely to give up."The facilities on Mount Wellington now are appalling by any standard, the road is not fit for purpose and on the mountain the facilities are really substandard," Mr Oldfield said.

That would mean the project circumvents the council's approvals process and is assessed under a different set of criteria."We've said before that the major projects legislation would not be utilised, that it needs to go through the normal planning process," he said.

'Too large, too much': Hobart City Council says no to cable car bid for kunanyi/Mount WellingtonAfter years of community division, debate and a record number of public submissions, the Hobart City Council has voted to reject a controversial proposal for a cable car on kunanyi/Mount Wellington. They said no to red awnings on a building. Going by this, did anyone seriously think they would say yes to a cable car? About time this stupid idea was dropped. Reminds me of the old lamented Sydney Monorail.

Aboriginal advocates welcome rejection of controversial cable car on Hobart's kunanyi/Mount WellingtonFantastic and we'll done. It was such a disrespectful idea and totally unnecessary. Kunanyi saved from scar's! Guess we'll just have to stick to the thousands of cars and busses driving up and down the road carved across the face so we can get to the car park, viewing building and multiple towers planted on top so we can walk one of the multiple well trodden cleared tracks then. Oh well. Cable Mountain in Cape Town is a great success. They might want to rethink this.

Crowds still banned at Victorian AFL matches despite lockdown endVictoria is exiting its latest lockdown, but spectators will not be able to attend matches in the state for at least two more weeks. LIKE SUBSCRIBE AND SHARE ELEPHANT SEAL via YouTube This virus is endemic. It won't be going away. If Vic needs a strategy for crowds moving forward, make it so that only fully vaccinated/negative test can attend and ditch the negative test requirement once everyone's had a chance to be vaxxed. Good. It was the uncertainty of large crowds that has extended the lockdown.stupid having large crowds during a global pandemic. To protect this industry the rest of all other business, employees etc have copped it because of the superspreaders. No more events with 000’s people
