The transaction adds to evidence of the growing appeal of the Canberra office market to institutional investors.

Charter Hall, backed by capital partner Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC, took over 50 Marcus Clarke StreetThe $6 billion ICPF controls a 14-asset portfolio, which includes interests in some of the country’s most-recognised office towers such as 60 Martin Place and Deutsche Bank Place in Sydney and 120 Collins Street in Melbourne.

The Canberra acquisition, which is one of Canberra’s first buildings to be WELL-rated, adds another landmark to that portfolio. The building includes seven retail tenancies and was designed to achieve a 4.5 Star NABERS Energy Rating. A retail laneway known as Lyric Lane – with bars, restaurants and cafes – runs between the two Constitution Place buildings, connecting Constitution Avenue with the Canberra Theatre., already a longtime tenant at Capital Property Group’s Brindabella Park, and law firms MinterEllison and King
