The heavy rainfall that has bucketed down on parts of NSW have been “incredible” for locals still doing it tough due to the drought, according to Dubbo Mayor Ben Shields. The Bureau of Meteorology said parts of NSW, including Dubbo, have received up to 20 millimetres of rain this week.

Another system is expected to bring more rain, although it is not clear whether it will be enough to break the crippling drought. Mr Shields told Sky News the rainfall shows things are “heading in the right direction”. “Importantly, we desperately need water and rain to head around our catchment areas, particularly around the Burrendong dam,” he said.

Govt defends sport rort saga by hitting back at 'hypocritical' Labor | Sky News AustraliaLabor has used Senate Question Time to further prosecute the government over the controversial sports grants programme and the auditor-general’s finding that the Coalition splashed cash in marginal seats. \n\nWhen asked about the controversy, both Senate leader Mathias Cormann and Sports Minister Richard Colbeck used the ‘reverse pork-barrelling’ defence that Bridget McKenzie lifted funding in Labor electorates. \n\nMinister Cormann claimed Labor should be “grateful” for the intervention and be proud of the programme. \n\nBoth Mr Cormann and Minister Colbeck hit back at Labor, and claimed their line of questioning was hypocritical, considering a 2010 auditor-general report which found an aspect of Labor’s fiscal stimulus program favoured Labor-held seats. \n Even when caught these LIARS can’t admit it. Labor 'wastes' Question Time | Sky News AustraliaLabor has ‘wasted an opportunity’ to successfully wedge the government during Wednesday’s Question Time, according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell. \n\nThe Opposition used Question Time to target the Coalition over it’s response to the summer of bushfires and the sports rort saga. \n\nBut Mr Clennell said the effort fell flat. \n\n“Three months they have been waiting for this and this is the best they can serve up?” he said. \n\n“We have a government that is not performing well but they’re relying on the opposition not stepping up to the plate, just as they did at the last election. And we saw more evidence of that in question time in my books.”\n What an incompetent 'leader' Albanese is. This is Great! Simply because they don't have an argument. The sports grants fell over, the attack on Angus Taylor fell over, the fires are basically out and the rains are falling and the climate emergency if fizzling into a loopy rant. Labor are missing in action. Losers!!!auspol It isn't over Andy. Its only just beginning. Plenty of time.
