Nobody is challenging the COVID strategy of ‘putting the nation into a coma’ | Sky News AustraliaThere are two emotions at work amongst Australians right now, “anger and fear” according to Sky news host Alan Jones.\n\nYet, “there have been no challenges to this strategy of putting the nation in a coma,” he said. \n\nOn Monday, Premier Daniel Andrews detailed the “heartbreaking” lengths of his stage four lockdowns which will affect metropolitan Melbourne for at least six weeks in a desperate bid to slow the spread of the killer coronavirus.\n\nMr Andrews ordered all non-essential workers not to leave their homes from Thursday but promised people they will not need to bulk buy food as supermarkets, grocery stores and pharmacies would stay open.\n\nThe tougher shutdown has come as the Andrews government has failed to slow the spread of the second wave of COVID-19 which has resulted in thousands of new cases and dozens of deaths.\n\nMr Jones said the nation is preoccupied with the number of cases of the virus “without ever saying 99 per cent are mild”. \n\n“The cost to workers, their families, billions of dollars to the national economy … appalling mental anguish”. \n\n“And no one tells us what they are trying to achieve”. \n\nImage: News Corp Australia Nope Alan Jones discusses the two emotions he attempts to generate, anger and fear. Victoria has now gone from ‘bad to worse’ amid business wipeout | Sky News AustraliaOutside of Victoria businesses have started to see the light at the end of the tunnel, however within the state it has now gone from shutdown, to lockdown and a potential 'wipeout' says Sky News host Peta Credlin. \n\nOn Monday Premier Daniel Andrews detailed the “heartbreaking” lengths of his stage four lockdowns which will turn metropolitan Melbourne into a ghost town for at least six weeks in a desperate bid to slow the spread of the killer coronavirus.\n\nMr Andrews ordered all non-essential workers not to leave their homes from Thursday but promised people they will not need to bulk buy food as supermarkets, grocery stores and pharmacies would stay open.\n\n“As heartbreaking as it is to close down places of employment, while I never thought that I would be telling people not to go to work, that is what we have to do in order to stop the spread of this wildly infectious virus, this deadly virus,” Premier Andrews said.\n\nMs Credlin discussed the latest lockdown ramifications with the Council of Small Businesses Australia CEO Peter Strong.\n\nMr Strong told Sky News said there are a lot of business people out there who are 'not even treading water'. \n\n'They're just waiting until JobKeeper runs out and then they're going to close'. \n\nImage: Getty And the population is at fault. Let's hope there's a military coup in Victoria very soon. Fed cash should be deployed.

Melbourne vs. wider Victoria divide the ‘most unfair way’ restrictions are enforced | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Paul Murray says the Melbourne and wider Victoria divide is without doubt the most unfair way in which restrictions are being put in place.\n\nMr Murray said the map released by the Victorian government - which shows the extremity of cases in each council - is misleading as it shows all the cases since March.\n\nHowever, if the map displayed where the virus is currently, it would be a different story.\n\nAs it stands 45 of the 75 councils in Victoria currently have 20 or fewer cases, and there are 15 parts of Victoria which have zero cases.\n\n “There is no explanation why people who live in a local government area with no virus should be living under the same rules as the worst parts of Melbourne,” Mr Murray said.\n\n“To me it’s pretty outrageous.”\n\nImage: News Corp Australia They should have locked down the whole of the north and north west of Melbourne completely and harshly in the beginning and if the muslims insist they all must attend their mosques then lock them all in together and leave them there for the six weeks so there out of the way.
