Springboks legend and iconic World Cup winning winger Chester Williams has died of a heart attack aged 49

Chester Williams, the only black player on South Africa's famed 1995 Rugby World Cup-winning team, died on Friday of a heart attack. He was 49.Chester Williams played 27 Test matches for South Africa, including the 1995 World Cup finalHe is the fourth player from the Springboks World Cup-winning squad to pass away

Williams became one of the faces of the new South Africa when the Springboks won the World Cup on home soil in front of Nelson Mandela. It was just a year after apartheid officially ended and South Africa elected Mandela as president in its first all-race elections. Williams had nearly not played in the World Cup having initially been left out of the squad because of injury. He recovered in time for the quarter-finals and scored four tries in the Springboks' win over Western Samoa.

"His performances at the World Cup in 1995, as a snapshot of his Springbok career, will forever be etched in the hearts and minds of our rugby public," South Africa Rugby president Mark Alexander said.

Sad. Rugby was a sport back then instead of an entertainment business and Chester was a great sportsman. RIP

So she was so drunk she couldn't walk and fell on the bed again, but so badly she bangged her head and if you did not see that 1 second of footage you would not have known she was injured as she just lay on the bed again. Awful bad luck that only a padded cell may have prevented. The poor girl was disoriented, probably drunk. I've done worse than that so many times that can't be counted. Kind of f sad that this is how the world will remember her. acab
