In a video record of interview with police conducted in the hours after the incident and played to the court today, Ms Hishmeh broke down in tears and sobbed when police told her Jacob Cummins had died.
When asked what had happened, she said when she heard her little brother had been"mobbed" and her sister"slashed", she"went crazy" and was swearing and yelling. She said she jumped in her car because she wanted to tell the teenagers to stay away from her little brother and little sister. "I was speeding and I lost control of my car, I don't know what happened," she said during the interview."I shouldn't have been speeding and I really swear I did not mean for this to happen."
In the lead up, Ms Hishmeh described herself as"fuming" and"upset", saying her fiance and siblings were telling her to relax and trying to calm her down, but when she was angry, she did not listen to other people.
Speeding and lost control of vehicle ia most definitely a sure fired excuse for manslaughter and culpable driving.
