Despite intensifying doubt about his fitness to hold office, Mr Santos has shown no signs of stepping aside — even as he publicly admitted to a long list of lies. Mr Santos has suggested he does not plan to step aside, in a Twitter post on Wednesday about a visit to the US Merchant Marine Academy earlier in the day.
A fellow Long Island Republican, Representative-elect Nick Lalota, said he was troubled by the revelations.

Why is this a story here? Plenty of Democrats with a dodgy past. Ilhan Omar married her brother to get him residency in the US. Eric Swalwell on the national security committee slept with a Chinese spy for years. Nancy Pelosi enriched her family with insider trading. Etc, etc.
Has all the attributes required for the Republican Party. He will fit in well.
