British government urged Washington embassy to lobby incoming president, declassified documents show

Office said the incoming president’s views on the region were unwelcome and urged the British embassy in Washington to confront him, according to an official document declassified this week.

The document was among declassified files at the Public Record Office in Belfast. It underscored the depth of British disquiet over Clinton, who had close ties to Irish-Americans and came into office promising a more active US policy on Northern Ireland. “We believe that the United States must reflect this concern more effectively in its foreign policy,” he said. “We condemn the violence and bloodshed which has scarred Northern Ireland and oppose all attempts to achieve political goals through terror and violence.”

Traffic management in space will cover more oceans and rural areasCEO of Skykraft Michael Frater says air traffic management will be improved so that when an aircraft encounters turbulence in the middle of the ocean, the pilot will not have to wait for permission to change to a smoother altitude. “It will also mean that the fuel burn of the aircraft will be reduced; this means that it saves money for airlines, and it also reduces the environmental impact,” Mr Frater told Sky News Australia. Mining companies profit from coal capTaxpayers will foot the bill for compensation costs mining companies will incur due to the government’s coal price cap scheme. Mining giant Rio Tinto is expected to receive roughly $450 million for anticipated losses in 2023. The move is set to anger the Greens Party and the crossbench who are opposed to compensation to fossil fuel companies. It’s believed power stations across Australia’s east will be reimbursed if they’ve already paid for coal above the $125 cap. It’s hoped the price cap will save households around $225 on power bills in the new year. Welcome to clown world Maybe the $250 savings were the extra tax we paid along the way. Where are Albos supporters now? Not a word.
