Opinion: I mourn the Queen, but my cancer cells don’t observe public holidays

It doesn’t mean those of us facing disruption won’t still pause and remember the late monarch’s steadfast and resolute reign during decades of tumultuous political and social change.

Yet I hope that as the world gazes intensely in one direction in the days and weeks to come, the lives, struggles and future of others are not completely eclipsed. I don’t understand why some of the comments here, and the other day have been rather unsympathetic. It’s very stressful having cancer, and the treatment. When I had one of the more manageable types of cancer, I didn’t need any more stress than I already had.

who comes up with these story ideas..........not us

didn't lockdowns bring a lot more disruption than a public holiday?

I survived cancer years ago, hospitals don't close down completely on public holidays, my appointment was rescheduled on a weekend & not a week day, so was o.k. with that.
