If you work a traditional Monday-Friday week, there’s a high chance you’re familiar with the sadness that can gradually rise in you over the course of a Sunday | sopphie

of 1000 people found four out of five respondents experienced an elevated sense of anxiety on Sunday in anticipation of the week ahead, mainly in the evening, and almost two-thirds said they got the worst night of sleep on Sunday.was originally created in 1933 by a Hungarian composer and became caught up in urban legends linking it to suicides. Later, Billie Holiday’s best-known version, released in 1941, was banned from being broadcast on BBC radio for being detrimental to wartime morale .

Realising that working from home had cured my Sunday melancholy, when Australians started returning to the office I began gushing about my new life hack to friends with the enthusiasm of Isaac Newton discovering the laws of gravity. My personal, highly reputable research showed there was a bleedingly obvious difference : returning to the office brought the Sunday scaries charging back.

Nicholas Haslam, a professor of psychology at the University of Melbourne, isn’t surprised, saying Sunday glumness is entirely normal, whether or not you like your job, because work is by its very nature taxing. Transitions are always tough, Haslam says, and though we go through it week after week, this one involves going from two days of few responsibilities to five days of grind.

“You’re moving away from spending the time the way you want it to the way someone else wants it,” Haslam says.Advertisement “Any time you’re moving forward to more demands and more requirements, to live by other people’s dictates and schedules, we get anxious or resigned or a little bit sad.”So, Haslam says, the tactic of working Monday from home is a way of retaining some control and easing into the week.

sopphie That’s what alcohol is for!

sopphie I’ve always suffered from the Sunday blues! I’m currently suffering it now... 😭😂

sopphie It’s nice to know I’m not the only one. It’s just hard to work from home on Monday when you don’t work in an office.

sopphie It's the lack of natural light. I spent two years doing 38 hrs a week in a room with no windows. We were getting sick every few months.

sopphie Sorry but if you need to write the equivalent of 3 columns of text to say you hate your job and feel shit on Sunday afternoons because you know you have to work on Monday then you probably need a new job. Or find more satisfaction in writing about meaningful topics not shit.

sopphie Go away with your opinions. SMH now unreadable

'We felt so let down': Indigenous community wants to know where their money has goneAn investigation into one of the country's most prominent Indigenous corporations has found millions unaccounted for a year after its directors were removed and special administrators appointed. im am so glad we are on to this story. leaders are far to often protected with crying racism when they are questioned. but $35 billion every year seems to go nowhere in helping those that need it. you cant eat statements, they are diversions from the real problems. wake up. Just like BLM, the organisers take it to enrich themselves and their friends... Throwing money at these groups is a waste of time. This has happened many times before ! Greed !

Australia faces ‘potential military crisis’ with China over TaiwanAustralia is facing a “clear and present danger”. But there’s a worrying sign that we’re totally unprepared for a war looming on our doorstep. We were unprepared in WW2, had 0 frontline fighters. Thankfully though now 1 in 10 Australians are of Asian descent and all of them and their kids would be more than happy to sacrifice their lives for this country against an Asian invader. Even if we were prepared, do you think we’d even have a chance against China? Can you please start calling this bullshit out? Relax, we have the almighty USA army to help Australia in need. 🤣🤦‍♂️
