With admirals, generals and politicians warning a new Pacific war may be just three to five years away, the question is being asked: Does Australia have what it needs?
“We have not seen the conflation of global economic and strategic uncertainty now being experienced here in Australia in our region since the existential threat we faced when the global and regional order collapsed in the 1930s and 1940s,” the Prime Minister warned when announcing the defence update in June last year.
“Any major war Australia is involved in will most likely start in maritime Southeast Asia. The aim is to keep our opponents as far as possible from our landmass,”“Energy imports alone will require both the degree of sea control necessary to ensure safe passage of oil and gas, and for the continuing operation of each country’s armed forces,”
“Its puzzlement is about how countries can co-operate so effectively based on trust, strategic interest and shared values. China does not have these types of relationships.”Ships taking part in the second phase of the Malabar naval exercise in the Arabian Sea. Its ships, submarines and aircraft can easily slot into communications networks, supply chains and tactical roles.
Major US bases at Okinawa and in Japan would be under direct threat. Even Guam, in the mid-Pacific, would be exposed.Especially as Tindal RAAF Base and US Marine facilities in Darwin are being built up as part of the West’s own “island chain”. No RAAF airfield has hardened shelters to protect its small fleet of F-35s, Wedgetail radar aircraft or F-18 Super Hornets. Not that they would be much help in the face of modern weaponry. Missile defences will be necessary.
The Chinooks, taken from US Army stocks, will be given “customer-unique modifications” before delivery. A set of eight spare engines headline an associated package of spares.
The “clear & present danger” is our deliberately destabilising media.
Unprepared? lol. You can never be fully prepared for 1.5 billion people when you only have 25 million. If every person in China spat towards us at the same time, they’d wipe us out with a Tsunami!
Australia can beat them and don't belittle yourself😡😡
Active Chinese military personnel is more than 2 millions. Australian active plus reserved ia about 90 thousands. You call it a war?! It is not a online game, it is a war might involve nuclear weapon.
Story: The hunter used dogs to probe the prey. If the prey is weak, the hunter makes a good harvest and gives the dog a bone. If the prey is too strong, the hunter turns and runs away, and the dog becomes bones. Now US is the hunter. China is the target. What is Austalia?
With 6 crappy submarines, fighter jets that can’t fight, no real fuel reserves, and an enemy that could easily absorb everything we throw at it and still slap us down, the real “clear & present” is our idiot federal government! They’re completely delusional.
There is no war....Australia wouldn’t be that stupid.
Relax,Australia quarantined and it's pm too for next five years may be coz of covid-19😂😂😂😂
Don’t forget that we don’t have any or many fuel refineries anymore I think it’s something like 95% of our fuel is coming from overseas now
Trade exchange with china worth tens of billions of dollars and talking about war,,,,,! 🤔
I've said it before and I'll say it again, while we're still selling iron ore and coal to China these articles you publish are not only fanciful to the point of borderline delusion but just downright sad and comical.
Don’t you just love this storyline, all the crazies worried about a war.
China isn’t scared of little Australia it’s big brother USA 🇺🇸 that China fears
Fcuk Off! The only threat to us at the moment is the Morrison Government. The degree of incompetence, corruption and lies is now intolerable. Report on them. Being taken out by Chinese Missiles would come as sweet relief from the oppression here-not there!
If China decides to target us ...we’re fkd !!
Ain't politics awesome !
We were unprepared in WW2, had 0 frontline fighters. Thankfully though now 1 in 10 Australians are of Asian descent and all of them and their kids would be more than happy to sacrifice their lives for this country against an Asian invader.
Even if we were prepared, do you think we’d even have a chance against China? Can you please start calling this bullshit out?
Relax, we have the almighty USA army to help Australia in need. 🤣🤦♂️
