A 24-year-old man is taken into custody on suspicion of murdering missing Ipswich man David Thornton after a freezer containing human remains was found in the 58-year-old's backyard.

A 24-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of the murder of 58-year-old Ipswich man David Thornton.

He will likely be extradited to Queensland on Wednesday morning, who had been missing for at least five weeks, and found two freezers, one containing human remains believed to be that of Mr Thornton."I can confirm that yesterday we did find the remains of a male person, we believe that to be, from the circumstances that we know at this point, we believe that it is likely that it is David," he said.
