A new report warns electric vehicles could substantially increase demand for electricity from the grid.

The AEMC has released an issues paper which outlined some ideas of how electric cars might contribute to lower energy costs, rather than increasing them.

It suggested with the right systems in place, households could use their electric car batteries to"soak up" excess rooftop solar generation when energy was cheap and have the option to sell power back into the grid when it was more expensive. The AEMC also said with the right market signals, charged electric cars could be used as a giant"virtual battery", feeding energy back into the grid at times of high demand, in return for an incentive for their owners.

When a battery goes bad How do we dispose it Would that contaminate the earth Stick with fossil fuel They can make a car that gets 100 miles a gallon

Fanciful at best. What's not fanciful is the fact that one car charging station is the equivalent of 100 new homes connected to the grid.

They will also... Decrease the cost of driving (over the long term) Reduce Air Pollution and related illnesses Increase fuel security Reduce the trade deficit Provide Grid stability (via V2G technology)

Electric vehicles potentially deadly to vision-impaired people, inquiry toldUp to one in three vision-impaired people surveyed have narrowly avoided being injured by electric vehicles, according to submissions to a Government inquiry. ' which silently crept up on them, ' While been driven by a human? Who drove at the person and didn't react or anticipate that they might have to react? How about drivers pay a bit more attention for the sake of the rest of us 'Up to one in three' What sort of rubbish is this? Is it one? is it none? What it is, is bullshit! My Electric Renault Zoe emits a pleasant humming sound at low speed. Like driving in the 21st century. Aus sells sub-par ICE vehicles with unacceptable emissions. To make up for that maybe we cd adopt EU regs on sounds for EVs? Do something nice for fellow humans for a change.

'Your country needs you!' It's high time for a drive to recruit better teachersToo many Australian teachers and teaching students are coming from the lower performers among their school cohorts. If we insist on high quality teachers, what are all the underwhelming low intelligence students going to study? Says a lot about what we in the service industries put up with. Glorified babysitters with too many holidays who wouldn't know a day's work.

Teaching students struggling to finish their degrees, report saysOne in two aspiring teachers are failing to finish their degree within six years, and the number of students accepted into education courses with ATARs lower than 50 has grown fivefold over the past decade We are in for a bright future.... what happened to all those 'Entrepreneurs?' ...that's right, all the vegan foods, cafes and chill-out bars are done, so is veganism and climate. Soya is out, it's done already. So where will our next ahem 'elite'...take us next, with half brains. Just look to European countries like Finland for guidance: only bright students can get into teaching degrees; training is thorough; payment is good enough to attract the brightest. The state system is the quality system. It will take time, but our kids are worth it. Why be surprised? Teaching has ceased to be a vocation and is a job now. Lower the standards for teachers, and you lower the standard of education, particularly in state schools, and there's the cycle set in motion. Education in this country has become an inexorable nightmare.
