Vandalism, social housing, and a farming family at the end of their resources — SBS's Struggle Street spotlights the Riverina in its latest look at poverty.

"It's not so much this suburb. Different people need different levels of support. Everyone has different struggles and different levels of struggle."Let's look at them as individuals and how we can empower them to work through it.

Leanne Leroy is one of the Ashmont Community Centre's success stories. After months of job hunting she recently gained a part-time job."Well I don't think it's dangerous to live here at all. I think the community as a whole is a good place," she said."And I don't think we are struggling. There are worse communities out there than us in Ashmont."Season Three of Struggle Street features Mayrung dairy farmers Rosey and Barry Warburton.

"It's definitely getting the message across. It was an absolute struggle back when we were being filmed," he said.

Experts weigh in on whether or not it's better to rent for the long termAs interest rates fall, and house prices surge again, is renting a better long-term option? We asked a few experts to find out. Many countries renting is the norm Pay off your own mortgage, not someone else’s. If you are smart your house will rise in value more than the total you pay in interest rates and loan fees etc. That is what we managed and it looks viable in some areas for some time to come with such low rates. Every cent saved in not having the rent & move regularly is a win.

Who is Diana Davenport from Toorak?A seemingly rich snob from one of Melbourne’s most exclusive suburbs has shocked newspaper readers with her ghastly view about poor supermarket shoppers. Diana obviously understands the burden of white privilage and wealth. How can she and others help with the economy if the good car parks are taken up by low income breeders. If she sympathised with the former Human Rights Commissioner she or he is probably a rabid foaming at the mouth leftie, so it’s an obvious gag. Much more? Not really. Someone is having a laugh and is somehow getting away with it.
