A hotel quarantine security guard in NSW has been issued two fines by police after breaking self-isolation following a COVID-19 test last Thursday.

The man was ordered to stay at home and await the return of his test result, but disobeyed the command, visiting a number of shops in Burwood. After taking a second test, the guard returned a positive result on Saturday.

Health authorities believe he was not particularly infectious at the time he went shopping, but NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has urged people with cold or flu symptoms to come forward for testing. New cases in NSW have continued to flatline with only three positive coronavirus results recorded overnight. Two of these cases were return travelers in hotel quarantine.
