Hong Kong activist Grandma Wong 'prevented from crossing border for 14 months'

A Hong Kong protester dubbed "Grandma Wong" says Chinese authorities kept her in custody for a month and a half across the border in Shenzhen, where she allegedly suffered mental abuse, and was then prevented from coming back for over a year.

Prominent Hong Kong protester Alexandra Wong, 64, has made her first public appearance in 14 months, telling the media she had been held in mainland China.Speaking to media for the first time since her release after completing 14 days in quarantine, Wong said she had been detained by Chinese police when she tried to return to her home in Shenzhen on August 14, 2019.
