The operator of a defunct Victorian power station must fork out more than $1.5 million after a bushfire spread to its coal mine and burned for 45 days.

"It was not an adequate response to risk to wait until a bushfire was bearing down on the mine to increase staff numbers or to rely on goodwill of staff who attended voluntarily," Justice Andrew Keogh found. "This was not because of any conscious disregard by , which was clearly attentive to the risk of coal fire at the mine," said.

Andrews reveals $2.7b for building blitz, including $1.1b for schoolsThe Premier said he expected the $2.7 billion package to create 3700 construction jobs, many for Victorians out of work due to the coronavirus pandemic. And how many of those construction jobs are union jobs? Let me guess: every single one. Daniel Andrews is a corrupt parasite. There you go. The infrastructure he is building is not infrastructure that will lead to enhanced manufacturing capability, he's building infrastructure to support a larger population. In other words continuing the ponzi scheme that got us here in the first place. Totally useless. . Will buildings be designed using passive solar construction so that they are naturally cool in summer and warm in winter? Will indoor VOCs from building materials be measured on completion? Will leading-edge biophilic and acoustic design be implemented? .

Brisbane City Council overturns fire pit rules for winter - ABC NewsThe Brisbane City Council temporarily lifts restrictions on backyard fire pits this winter to allow residents to enjoy the outdoor heaters without being fined. JessHinchy This is a completely nonsensical decision. The evidence is clear: wood smoke is highly polluting and endangers health. Ask one of your international airquality experts, Lidia Morawska at QUT, what she thinks of this brain fade. /1 QldEnvironment brisbanecityqld woodsmoke Geez.....never knew having firepits were against the law. Good thing the stupid restriction is discarded. Seriously, it's the 21st century yet, the government and other bureaucrat authorities are so intrusive and interfere with people's lives excessively. Dumb. Now, if Adrian Schrinner bne_lordmayor could only invent something to stop the smoke from a backyard fire wafting over the rest of the neighbourhood.

Victorian deputy chief health officer regrets 'distractions' caused by Captain Cook tweetA Victorian deputy chief health officer says she regrets the distraction she caused by likening coronavirus to Captain Cook's arrival in Australia. Regrets 'distractions' that made me chuckle. It's the most weasel apology ever! Oh ffs. Faux outrage cooked up by News Corp. Like they give a damn about indigenous Aussies. If by distraction she means completely rewriting history and portraying the settlement of Australia as a racist invasion, sure. I don’t believe her at all.
