Born into war-torn Lebanon in 1941, she followed her husband to Australia on a boat with her two young daughters in the late 1960s.
The family lived in Melbourne, where they welcomed a third baby girl, and later packed up and moved to Wagga. Ms Koriaty could not speak a word of English, but thought it was important and soon learned at her local church. "I used to go to church and I'd take my bible, they would read in English and I would follow it in Arabic like a dictionary, that's the way I learned," she said.A visit to the cafe reveals the warm, fond way customers treat her, and it is clear that she has become a respected part of the community."She loves food, she loves God, she loves people," he said.
"People come here and she gives free food, free lunch and sometimes helps a lot of people, that's what I see all the time."
