Data shows a surge in the number of people claiming unemployment benefits, as financial pressures hit mortgage holders and businesses auspol

Half a million Australians took up unemployment benefits in the six weeks after the coronavirus forced key parts of the economy to shut, and economists warn it could take years for some of them to get another job.

The number of young Australians on youth allowance also surged, reaching 121,600 in late April, compared to 85,000 a month earlier. The department's acting deputy secretary, Shane Bennett, said up to 1.7 million people were expected be on an unemployment payment by September. But that forecast did not take into account the Morrison government's $130 billion JobKeeper package, which it is hoped will enable workers to keep their jobs.

Hence why the restrictions must ease ASAP.

May day

But let's just stay in lockdown for another few months and completely destroy the economy. Don't send kids back to school either. Easier to brainwash the uneducated.

That is sure . It is obviously show that the government did not do any effective policies to help the society to recover their financial crisis.

Ok. Are you sure because we are best friends with the US and if they asked, you will give it to them? Can you confirm who will keep our data in the future and how long will it be stored for?

Yes, and it works about as well as the hyperlinks on your website’s Top Stories.. Graphs make no sense - all the same regardless of what location you click on. Why can’t I read the main headline story? Those big red dots are absurd - the current active cases are just over the population of Houston, the deaths the population of Norfolk, Virginia, in other words so small it's still countable. 'Disgusting' to hand COVIDSafe data contract to US company Amazon | Sky News AustraliaThe decision to hand the COVIDSafe data storage contract to US company Amazon was a “disgusting, disgraceful” move, according to Crossbench Senator Rex Patrick. \n\nAmazon was awarded the contract to keep data collected from the COVIDSafe app on its servers but Mr Patrick insisted the contract should have been awarded domestically. \n\nThe South Australian Senator told Sky News he wrote to Finance Minister Mathias Cormann urging him to invoke powers that would give extra weighting to “procurement” that benefits Australian companies. \n\n'I was actually quite disgusted by the government in their handing of the COVIDSafe data cloud storage contract to a US company when we have the expertise in this country,” he said. \n\n'We want to be investing in and supporting those sorts of capabilities in Australia.\n\n'We understand that we need to rebuild the economy, We understand we need to relook at things like self-reliance. We really do need to focus on making sure that when we expend taxpayers' money we direct it where possible to Australian companies.'\n Senator_Patrick This is NOT keeping jobs in Australia. This is NOT creating jobs for Australians. Incredible hypocrisy of the Federal Government. All this grandstanding about keeping jobs and businesses in Australia and their first large initiative is to outsource to a big US IT company. Senator_Patrick Meh... they've already got our information no biggie eh
