Tough new alcohol restrictions set for Western Australia's hard-drinking Pilbara mining region have been put on ice, following an appeal from the Australian Hotels Association.
But the Liquor Commission — an independent body related to the Director of Liquor Licensing — has granted a stay on the restrictions, which were to be imposed on 91 liquor licences in the Pilbara. The Australian Hotels Association had lobbied for a banned drinkers register instead of restrictions. "They will instead be reviewed and undergo proper review by the Liquor Licensing Commission before they come into effect."The AHA, representing local businesses, argued the restrictions do not effectively deal with the biggest problem drinkers.

I have always liked the idea of a photo ID that shows you are ok to buy & drink alcohol. Maybe they could also utilise it for some drugs as well. I know I am probally on my own on this one.
