Add articles to your saved list and come back to them any time.Schools are free to hold graduation ceremonies on school grounds this term, but the reprieve has come too late for many that have already locked in virtual plans or postponed celebrations until next year.

Masks, hand sanitiser and elbow bumps were in; the usual live music, singing and handshakes were out. But the occasion still had a celebratory spirit of togetherness that until two days ago had been out of reach, principal Michelle Cotter said."The fact that we were able to bring the class of 2020 together while still being safely apart meant everything given a year of learning remotely at home," Dr Cotter said.

But some schools have already locked in plans for next year, in the hope that COVID-19 restrictions will no longer stand in the way of celebrating in unbridled style.
