Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says there is a “method behind the madness” of the government stimulus package which will support businesses and provide welfare payments during the coronavirus crisis.

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says there is a “method behind the madness” of the government's stimulus package which will support businesses and provide welfare payments during the coronavirus crisis. Mr Clennell said the government’s decision to financially prop up childcare centres was motivated by a desire to ensure “all manner of critical workers” and particularly those working in the health industry could continue to do so.

“The concern was that many childcare centres would go bust and then you would have workers unable to access childcare which would lead to more job losses than we have already seen,” he said. He added the decision to keep “the wage subsidy at a flat rate so that people earning less than $750 a week start getting $750 a week” was driven by the need to “roll it out quickly”.

Country Australians ‘are being made to rely on the socialist ABC for news’ | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Peter Gleeson says press freedoms and a free and open media are “being eroded and the blame can be laid squarely at the hands of the legislators”. \n\n“For over a decade now, media companies like News Corp … has been warning federal government that the tech giants like Google, Facebook and Instagram, are being allowed to eat the financial lunch of traditional media”. \n\n“They shamelessly rip off the content created by mainstream media companies and post it onto their platforms, where it is consumed by their large and growing audiences”. \n\nIt comes as many local media organisations in Australia are suffering as a result of global tech giants which have not only claimed a large proportion of advertising revenue, but do so on the back of locally produced and locally funded publisher content.\n\nMr Gleeson said the results could mean “country and regional folk (will) have to rely even more on the ABC, which is terribly unfair, considering it is part of the socialist cabal which includes Labor, the Greens, Get Up and the unions.\n\n“The Morrison government has a lot on its plate right now but when things settle down, the first thing it must do is change the law to protect homegrown media”. \n\nImage: News Corp Australia *cough* Murdoch *cough* hahahaha. This is the funniest satire channel on tv! Keep up the hilarity! Sky has the dumbest talking heads this side of Fox! The fact that the ABC has so much influence in country Australia is because it’s the only broadcaster. Peta Credlin analyses new JobKeeper package and its impacts | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Peta Credlin runs through what the government's extensive $130 billion JobSeeker package will mean for everyday Australians, business-owners and employees. \n\nBusinesses will be paid a fortnightly wage subsidy of up to $1,500 per employee if their turnover has decreased by at least 30 per cent due to the coronavirus crisis.\n\nThat $1,500 payment will be transferred to the employee as the government seeks to incentivise businesses to keep their employees on the books during the pandemic. \n\n'You couldn't pay me enough money to be the prime minister right now,' Ms Credlin said. \n\n'He is dealing with an enormous crisis of the like we've never seen'. \n\n'This truly is unprecedented'. \n\nImage: Getty \n\n All this means to me is that us net taxpayers will have to pay for it. I see no reason to prop up the likes of Qantas with taxpayer money when other businesses will suffer just as badly and get nothing. Sick of it. Everyday, all day. bloody Covid 19. It goes on and on. Destroying our economy because China and our many Governments threw us under the bus and China is poised like a vulture to pick our bones. Australia is about to become Australasia. Souls sold to the China store. Unless she spoke of the “Debt and Deficit Disaster” that will ensue, or apologised for her part in that chapter after the GFC, then any words that come from her mouth will continue to be nothing but propaganda.
