Energy Minister AngusTaylorMP says Australia is getting the 'trifecta' of lower gas prices, lower electricity prices and lower emissions as a result of the government's investment in 'technology not taxes'.

Energy Minister Angus Taylor says Australia is getting the "trifecta" of lower gas prices, lower electricity prices and lower emissions as a result of the government's investment in "technology not taxes". The latest data revealed Australia's emissions had decreased by 0.9 per cent, but factored COVID-19 and drought as contributors to the reduction. "The critical thing you see in the data is domestic emissions have been falling rapidly and for a long while.

In fact, we've already beaten our 2030 target," Mr Taylor said. Mr Taylor ruled out increasing Australia's Paris targets arguing the existing target was "strong" and would be beaten by "411 million tonnes". "That's essentially a year's worth of emissions. We set a target and we beat it." "We think gas is an important part of the mix.

AngusTaylorMP Really ? I have what he's smoking 😝

AngusTaylorMP Emissions? Who is measuring all the volcanoes, including those unknown undersea? What a load of croc. By all means live a waste free, anti consumption life but to these big $making dirty ‘green’ industries don’t be impoverishing all of us! Thanks

AngusTaylorMP What a load of bullshit. Electricity and gas prices have not gone down. Even when the wholesale price has dropped, the retail price hasn't, and with some retailers it has even risen under Taylor. He is a compulsive liar, but scarily seems to believe his own lies, bloody grub.

AngusTaylorMP we have so much gas in this country, how is it they run this 'energy market' scheme and drive prices up when there is no shortage? essential services should be regulated and run as a benefit to society. also emissions have been going up from our coal AND gas producers.

NSW govt met with backlash over public sector pay freeze | Sky News AustraliaThe New South Wales government is trying to win support for its public sector pay-rise freeze. \n\nThe decision – which would see 400,000 public servants go without a pay-rise for 12 months - was met with a wave of criticism when announced on Wednesday. \n\nNSW Opposition leader Jodi McKay said the move would be a “punch in the guts” for those who worked on the frontline throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. \n\nState Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said the move was vital if New South Wales was to save current jobs in the public sector and create new jobs in the private sector. \n\nThe move, if successful, would come with the guarantee there would be no forced redundancies in the public sector other than senior executives. \n\nThe proposal, which would save an estimated $3 billion, will be reliant on support in the Upper House. Many have had NO PAY for three months & they'd have to pay for it. Anyone who aposes this shows their total disregard for struggling taxpayers at the hands of government mismanagement, sack anyone who does. Suffering for their art: creative accounting!?

RBA Governor urges govt to consider extending JobKeeper past September | Sky News AustraliaThe Reserve Bank of Australia Governor has urged the government to consider extending its wage subsidy scheme beyond September if the economy has not yet recovered. \n\nPrime Minister Scott Morrison previously ruled out any extension of the program, which has a hard end date of September 27. \n\nSpeaking at a Senate inquiry into the response to COVID-19, RBA Governor Phillip Lowe said the end of the government stimulus will be a “critical point for the economy”. \n\n“Well, it’s clearly going to be a critical point when that scheme comes to an end and also when the deferral for six months of mortgage payments and other payments that the banks are offering,” he said. \n\nAhead of a review of the program next month, Mr Lowe said the government should make contingency plans. \n\n“It may be in six months’ time we bounce back well and the economy is doing reasonably well, and these schemes, which were temporary in nature, can be withdrawn without problems. \n\n“But if the economy is not recovered reasonably well by then, as part of that review we should be looking at, perhaps, the extension of that scheme or the modification in some way.\n\n“But I think at this point it’s too hard to say because the outlook remains very uncertain, but it’s going to be a very critical point in the economy.” This is extraordinarily evil! He is promoting handing middle Australia's wealth to the banks, Bill Gates and co, and the super wealthy. Because, no matter how you sugar coat it, this is all debasing the currency achieves. I disagree as jobkeeper is a model that is artificial ... we should let the market decide if these jobs are still viable and the rest can go on the DOLE like everyone else & reveal real unemployment figures Asking the government to cover their mistakes.

NSW govt dealing 'unfairly with the bush' | Sky News AustraliaShooters, Fishers and Farmers party leader Robert Borsak says his party is not prepared to support the government’s proposed wage freeze for public sector workers. \n\nNSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian defended the move which could see up to 400,000 public workers undergo a wage freeze in a bid to stimulate the economy amid the coronavirus crisis. \n\nMr Borsak told Sky News that the party was “not convinced [government] would deal fairly with the bush”. \n\n“We weren’t convinced that creating jobs in Sydney by making these cuts would be better than allowing the public servants living in the bush to spend the money in the communities where the cash can be circulated and is needed,” he said. \n\n“Any money that’s spent by government in these circumstances has got to be seen to be stimulus money, that’s what it’s all about and taking that money to the centre, as the treasurer wants to do, I don’t think that actually conforms.\n\n“Government doesn’t create jobs, demand creates jobs and that’s what we want to see happen.” \n
