Sky News host Rita Panahi has outlined why good governments need a strong opposition, saying a government can become complacent “without a viable alternative snapping at its heels”.

Ms Panahi said this has been evident in Victoria, where “the opposition has failed to lay a glove on” the Andrews Government.

“Next weekend marks the one-year anniversary of the Victorian election and one can safely say that if a poll were held today Labor would win again in a landslide,” she said. “Dan Andrews' government appears impervious to the fallout that follows political scandals whether due to gross acts of incompetence or deliberate wrongdoing.” Image: News Corp Australia

So when both sides are equally inept what’s the answer?

This Govt needs scrutiny by the media. I’ve not seen it once in 7yrs. Even when Abbott got his $60K scholarship-bribe the scum pretending to be journalists chased down the whistleblower. The opposition on the other hand is under constant attack (this article for example). auspol

How about a strong opposition on the Outsiders, you've become complacent without a viable alternative snapping at your heals. It's like watching someone play chess with themselves, you can't lose.

Rubbish, she's using crap to smear mud and pretend she is working for the people. Well she's not she's working for her party to win power, thats all. If a party has done something well they should be applauded for it, not shot down.

she should move interstate.. most of us like it here

This is a new and interesting way to blame labor 🤦🏼‍♀️

AStrongerOZ Yep, the Opposition in Vic is p... weak. Can't lay a glove on this bunch of leftists and public debt rampers!! I would say the worst official Opposition in the nation.

But what if the entire government is corrupt and has been for over 40 years? Shouldn't the public stand up and do something?

Today the state prosecutor argued that only politicians and corporations have the right to political communication in Australia. Where is the opposition on this disgusting act of treason? Andrews is a traitor, the opposition are coward weaklings, or worse.

There is no opposition in Victoria because there are too many foreigners, and hard-Left communist parasite Australians. Daniel Andrews is the most corrupt politician in living memory, but he won't lose power because democracy is a corrupt system of oligarchy rule. resist

Victoria doesn’t have an opposition.

Rita knows everything😂😂😂

She's just another among the plethora of ill-informed, opinionated columnists pretending to know what she's talking about.

She spent far more time accusing the Greens of insanity though. Why? Because you're a cheap fact-free broadcaster that spends most of your time making cheap baseless ad hominem attacks. is a disgrace.

That’s been Dan for a few years now

Didn't she think the monster lobster guy Guy was totes awesome though? You guys hire the worst people.
