Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte tells citizens he will have them arrested and inject them with COVID vaccines himself if they hesitate.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has threatened to arrest Filipinos who refuse COVID-19 vaccination and told them to leave the country if they would not cooperate with efforts to end a public health emergency. Many Filipinos are delaying vaccination because they are holding out for a Western vaccineSome government officials say a bigger problem than hesitancy is inadequate vaccine supply

"If you will not agree to be vaccinated, leave the Philippines. Go to India if you want or somewhere, to America," he said, adding he would order village leaders to compile a list of defiant residents. Human rights lawyer Edre Olalia raised concerns over Mr Duterte's threat, saying the President could not order the arrest of anybody who has not clearly committed any crime.

After repeated delays, vaccinations started in March, but many citizens have opted to wait for more vaccine choices, prompting some cities to offer snacks and store discounts to encourage people to get immunised with any vaccine. The Philippines is a COVID-19 hotspot in Asia, with more than 1.3 million cases and at least 23,749 deaths.

Still doing a better job than our very own QAnon scomo

I'm pro-vax and this is too far. This is the dystopia that anti-vaxxers pretend exist.

Atleast he's letting people leave.

I like this guy but this doesn't make any sense at all. If its known it works at 100% safe and not kill people then fair enough but this vaccine is still in need of improvement

Oh, I forgot he was there.

Merlino: Vic is ‘far behind’ in vaccine race | Sky News AustraliaVictorian Acting Premier James Merlino says the state is “falling so far behind” in its vaccine rollout with only 3 per cent of its population being fully vaccinated.\n\nIt comes as Victoria has recorded one new local case and eight new cases in hotel quarantine. \n\n“Above all we want to see a sense of urgency. This is a race – a race that, nationally, we are falling behind in,” Mr Merlino said. \n\nHe called for the federal government to acknowledge the lack of vaccine supply within the state. \n\n“This is the one job that the Commonwealth government has – procure and supply vaccines – that’s what we want to see.”\n JamesMerlinoMP Because Morrison Government has Stuffed Up the Supply of vaccine! JamesMerlinoMP This is what your government fails at up holding James & to hold your head in shame is the only thing your “falling “ behind of doing 👇 JamesMerlinoMP Vic Labor gov should try using positive reasons to have jab rather than hard line scare tactics. Offer choice of vaccine to all age groups and more people will have it.

The unvaccinated will need to ‘deal with consequences’ | Sky News AustraliaThose who are vaccinated will eventually be granted more privileges than those who are not, says Infectious Diseases Physician Professor Peter Collignon.\n\nHe said “as time goes on” and more Australians get vaccinated, the rules for those people should change. \n\n“Once you’re vaccinated, if you’re overseas I would think home quarantine would be an option for you,” Professor Collignon told Sky News.\n\nHe said while he does not think vaccines should be mandatory, if people choose not to receive it there might be a price to pay.\n\n“By the same token people who decide not to get vaccinated or delay it, they may have to deal with some of the consequences of that.”\n Why should the government discriminate over how immunity is achieved? Neither having a vaccine nor having a negative nasal swab prove immunity. How will the government know who has seroconverted and who hasn't? And those who have already been infected and have natural immunity? The Phillipine president has threatened to start jailing the unvaccinated? Even though those who are vaccinated still spread it to others 🤷‍♂️
