Errol Comrie is determined the pandemic will not stop any of his students from sitting exams and "getting a chance in life," but it all relies on them passing another test they cannot study for.Kids from higher income households were only behind by two weeksIn the United Kingdom, all senior students are required to clear two COVID-19 tests a week if they want to come to class in person.
After months of turmoil, Mr Comrie feared some of his students could see their futures permanently altered by the pandemic. The learning lost to a global crisis A report prepared for the British Department of Education found that by the end of 2020, disadvantaged high school students in England had missed out on about 3.7 months of learning, while affluent pupils were on track.Primary school aged children from disadvantaged backgrounds were three months behind where they should be, whereas children from wealthier families were only two weeks behind.
Natalie Perera, chief executive of the Education Policy Institute, said the pandemic has widened the gap for disadvantaged students. City Heights Academy has a big plan to tackle the task ahead, confident they can manage COVID-19 and make up for lost time."We will overcome COVID, we have to," Mr Comrie said.
By fixing the damage it's done on adults
I have no words on the severe impact on our children through all of this. So many of our State school kids will be so far behind and many may never catch up
Kids are resilient, and by and large, will take their cues from their adults. For those needing more help, hopefully we've learned from past experiences, e.g. wars, and will implement those lessons to best support them
Easy. Turn off the TV and live life. It's the media creating all the fear and damage.
ABC when are you going to show the systemic excessive force Melbourne and Western Sydney police authorities are using on the populace? The videos we are seeing are horrendous yet you remain almost silent. If this were happening OS you’d be reporting it.
Choose your words carefully. It's not the virus but government and 'experts' who should be accounted for the damage.
