abc.net.au/news/pakistan-ex-hockey-player-killed-in-italy-shipwreck/102048122Seeking a better future for her disabled son, former Pakistan national hockey player Shahida Raza enlisted human smugglers to get her out of the country.Former national hockey player for Pakistan, Shahida Raza, is one of 65 people killed in a migrant boat crash on Sunday off the coast of Italy

Her life ended this week off the coast of Italy when the boat carrying her and scores of others sank, which killed at least 67 people, including 16 minors. "She was the sole breadwinner of the family," Ms Kainat told Reuters at Ms Raza's modest family home, while Raza's widowed mother and younger sister sobbed uncontrollably in a room that had been turned into a makeshift shrine filled with certificates, medals and trophies celebrating her sporting achievements.Hasan, aged 3, was born with a disability that left him unable to speak or move unaided, Ms Kainat added. She could not name the disability.

Raza's husband divorced her, citing his inability to live with a disabled child, according to Ms Kainat.

Wow totally amazing, a ABC reporter, can’t use punctuation! Wow!

The blood is on the hands of Angela Merkel and all the other European politicians who created the environment that encouraged people to make the dangerous journey. Migrants know that if they just get to Europe, they won't be sent back.

Ditching a disabled son and skipping the country didn't work out that well for her

Obviously more hockey talent than intelligence 🙄

Why didn’t she was advised to apply to emigrate to Australia, in which her hockey experience is easy for her to find a job.

Really unfortunate, the smugglers fool people like her by promising her the world. Pakistan isn’t even a country qualified for refugee status anywhere. I’m certain being a sports talent meant she had much more legal and safer options but desperate ppl get fooled easily

'Migrant hoping for a better life' is poor optics. You've got to refer to the migrants are 'persecuted refugees', as though that confers an obligation on European countries to take them in.

Illegal immigrant.

Thank goodness we have policies to discourage these people making perilous voyages. Lets hope AustralianLabor doesn't go the soft touch.

Take the risk , deal with the consequences?

Police arrest three alleged traffickers after Italian migrant boat wreckPolice in Italy have arrested three men for allegedly trafficking up to 200 people on a boat that crashed in southern Italy, leaving at least 64 people dead. Police said they have detained a Turkish man and two Pakistani nationals who sailed the boat from Turkey to Italy in bad weather conditions. Officials have warned the death toll could pass 100. JP Morgan helped Epstein with trafficking, Attorney General fired for investigating the moment Biden arrived 🤔 I'll hazard a guess, and say the real mastermind is somewhere else living the 'good life' from the proceeds of this and other 'ventures'. They've only arrested the 'mules'.

Former Labor minister argues super changes not a ‘broken promise’Former Labor minister Stephen Conroy has argued the government’s changes to superannuation tax concessions are not a broken election promise. “If it’s being implemented after the next election, the Australian public get to vote about that policy and others at the next election and [if] they defeat us, the Liberal Party can say today they will repeal it,” he told Sky News Australia. “It can be repealed if we are defeated at the next election.” Stephen Conroy wouldn’t know if he’s backside was on fire. An utterly useless & incompetent human. MSM never going to get their 1-5 mins back from wasting their time on him! Its not.Coming at after the next election and not a moment too soon. Honestly, do your freaking homework you 8th graders. Stephen Conroy would stick up for labor no matter what they do.

Former Collingwood AFLW vice-captain Emma Grant sues Magpies over concussionEmma Grant was a foundation player and vice-captain with the Magpies before a concussion forced her into premature retirement. Surely there has to be some self awareness of the possibility of head trauma if you play contact sport? So she suffered a concussion and took time off to recover. Then was 'allowed' to train after three weeks. Almost sounds like she was requesting to start training again, so she must have felt like she had recovered? Surely concussions are a risk of playing AFL? Unless they were forcing her to come back to play when she was still unwell I am struggling to understand how she is suing them..
