A former Labor minister has hit out at the"vile disobeying of the law" undertaken by some pro-Palestinian protestors, as he argued the Greens were promoting" Hamas propaganda."Former Labor minister Mike Kelly has claimed the Greens are"legitimising violence," through anti- Israel rhetoric, as he hit out at the"vile" conduct of some pro-Palestinian protestors.
"There's been, of course, a massive campaign of emailing these MPs and of course, the horrendous and, you know, vile, disobeying of the law through the vandalism that we've seen, the boycotting and blockading of MPs' offices"he said.Mr Kelly echoed the concerns of Messrs Albanese and Dutton, accusing the Greens and some pro-Palestine groups of spreading"Hamas propaganda.
Mr Kelly, who served in the Australian Defence Force and was deployed to Somalia, East Timor, Bosnia, and Iraq, maintained it was vital to recognise the current conflict was"a war of aggression launched by Hamas," on October 7 last year and that pressure should therefore remain on the militant group to bring about an end to the fighting.
However, Mr Kelly cautioned Muslim groups pushing for a stronger condemnation of Israel and further action from the government to support Palestine did not necessarily speak for the whole of Australia's Islamic community.
