Rugby Australia is looking for a new broadcasting partner with Fox Sports reportedly pulling the pin on their television deal at the end of 2020.
News Corp Australia, majority owner of Fox Sports Australia and news.com.au, reported that after months of negotiations, talks came to an end on Wednesday.The current television deal, signed in 2015 was worth $285 million, giving the sport's governing body $57 million a year. The news came after the Super League board revealed it accepted Catalans Dragons’ controversial signing of Israel Folau, who was ousted from the Wallabies last year for a code of conduct breach.
The RFL admitted it had been a “difficult decision” but said the “moral responsibility” on signing players rested with clubs and, with Folau not charged or guilty of a criminal offence, it felt it could not prevent his participation.Kobe Bryant’s heartbroken widow turned to Instagram on Wednesday to post heartfelt tributes to him, saying she misses her “best friend.”
