Tens of thousands of people in NSW with intellectual disability experiencing mental illness will now be able to go to a 'one stop shop' to receive customised treatment | EstherHjHan

When people seek help for depression or anxiety, they'll usually get the treatment they need. But for Georgia Groom and her family, it hasn't been that easy.

"But in the ED it can be overwhelming for her, because she's shuffled from doctor to doctor, needing to see somebody else and needing another referral."But soon, Georgia and the 40 per cent of people with intellectual disability who also live with mental illness in NSW will be able to go to a "one stop shop" to receive customised treatment and support.

The "first-of-its-kind" hubs will be staffed by a wide range of specialists, including psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers and speech pathologists. Associate Professor David Dossetor, head of psychological medicine at Westmead, said his typical patient is highly agitated, highly anxious, disruptive and repetitive.

Tired of 'personalities' tweeting crap then deleting that & apologizing for that tweet. Think before you post. And remember, not every thought that pops into your head has to be verbalized. Typical Labor below the belt attacks! Sharpe must resign her position as she is both a disgrace and embarrassment to the Parliament! Vote Labor and this is the filth you’ll get! Ha ha ha .
