Sky News host Chris Smith says a federal government plan to allow pensioners to work more hours could fill the “monstrous gaps in the workplace”.

Seniors could be allowed to work more hours whilst still receiving their pension, in a major bid to ease Australia’s workforce crisis.

“It’s finally off the ground … sometimes the most obvious of good ideas do take seemingly forever to gain government support,” Mr Smith said.

Rather than make those who have already contributed work, how about getting those on the dole to have a go? Jobs everywhere but the numbers on the “rock and roll” remain the same. Put a time limit on the dole, like other countries.

If they want to work then fine but don't expect them to work as they done enough of it through life

I'm 84 looking for bricky's labourers job.👍

Disgusting if politicians stopped bleeding us dry paying for the over priced salary's their entitlements and over generous pension they wouldn't have to work and people think Labor care Here's your proof they don't give a f*'k except about themselves

AFT !

Remove all barriers & treat income as for any other Aust citizen. No to ageism.

Credit to the ALP if it brings in a sensible scheme to enable pensioners to work and earn income. Foolish Morrison dithered over a sensible plan which could have been a vote winner.

But isn't unemployment at an all time low?

Trying to make it sound like the elderly want to continue slaving, you're pathetic sky news.

Don't dare put serial dole bludgers to work

I don’t see a problem with this

Oh pensioners ! I thought you said Prisoners ! 😂

Work pensioners until they die? That's what the government thinks of you.

Anyone but the unvaccinated. Meanwhile the CDC advices not to differentiate between vaxed and unvaxed. Australia is an international joke.

Cheng Lei’s partner speaks to Sky NewsThe partner of detailed Australian journalist Cheng Lei spoke exclusively to Sky News, discussing the limited access to family and issues his partner currently faces while detained in China. Nick Coyle said his partner’s access to family was “non-existent”. “Every kid needs their mum,” he said. “And every mum, you know, is distraught without being able to be with their kids for all those special occasions.” 'Detailed journalist'? I'm sure she is detailed. But she's detained too. *detained? “Exclusively”. I don’t think so. I saw him as a guest on SBS Insight program talking about this. You can’t even be honest about that

There’s ‘a lot of conflict’ within ChinaThe Centre for Independent Studies’ Salvatore Babones says there’s “a lot of conflict” within China that “gets reflected” out into the rest of the world. Mr Babones said this comes as a result of factional infighting. “It’s very hard for us to know what’s going on,” he told Sky News host Chris Smith. Those guys who yearn for China's split and collapse pretend to care about China's democracy and human rights! Those who abused and wished for China's subjugation and genocide all claimed to be civilized, anti-war and believing in Christ. Chinese people are not hypocritical and do not pretend to care about American democracy and human rights! We don't care about you!

‘Lots of demand’ for skilled migrants in rural and regional areasNSW Liberal Senator Hollie Hughes says we need to ensure we’re “targeting” skilled migrants into the right industries and regions, as the federal government seeks to increase the skilled migration intake to address labour shortages. Between 180,000 and 200,000 skilled migrants could be allowed into Australia every year. “We don’t have the infrastructure for them to all go to the cities, there’s lots of demand out in rural and regional areas for these workers,” Ms Hughes told Sky News host Chris Smith. Action on veteran suicide needs to ‘happen quickly’NSW Liberal Senator Hollie Hughes says it’s time everyone steps up and “does better at looking after our veterans”, because “they’re the ones looking after us”. This comes after the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide handed down its interim report which includes 13 recommendations. “Action needs to happen and happen quickly,” Ms Hughes told Sky News host Chris Smith. Imagine losing your job for being terrible at it and then emailing your old employer telling them that they need to do better. 😂 Nothing happened under her government for 9 years, now everything has to be done yesterday. What an absolute hypocrite. While in the U.S. Republicans voted no on veterans getting health care for the burn pits that caused cancer and much more.. veterans are angels and they should always get the best health care

Liberals’ push for ‘progressive environment policy’ either ‘insures or confuses’Former Labor MP Michael Danby says it’s clear the NSW and Victorian Liberals are trying to adopt a more “progressive environment policy” to insure themselves against a repeat of the 'teals phenomena' seen in the federal election. “But I’m not sure whether it insures or confuses, and that’s the key point,” Mr Danby told Sky News host Chris Smith. “And what do we do – all of us, both sides of politics – when electricity prices go up, a hundred per cent, 200 per cent, including for manufacturing, as we adopt more expensive renewables?” Hunger Stones Google it and you will question the whole C Change narrative Big mistake. Insure themselves agains a repeat of the teals phenomena? Who is kidding who? Why not read the room, read the recent commentary in The Age about IBAC and actually do something about it!

John Howard reveals ‘truth’ about Morrison governmentFormer Prime Minister John Howard was not “honest with the public” when campaigning for the Morrison government at the last election, says Sky News host Chris Smith. Mr Howard has since written a book, in which he is critical of Mr Morrison’s political management and several Liberal Party policies. “I have great respect for John Howard, but there's something inherently disappointing with volunteering to campaign for your Party,' Mr Smith said. “And say all kinds of complimentary things about that government, to then write a book and bag that same government. “He told us the Morrison Government was worth reinstating … but the truth was he felt strongly that the Libs had mishandled issues.” Obviously nor was Morrison. Like the Australian government or any other government have been honest over the last few years 💉💉💉 the media wasn't.. worst, most gutless PM the country has ever had
