Hundreds of workers are stranded after shopping mall giant Westfield locks non-rent-paying retailers, including Mosaic and Strandbags, out of their stores in a bitter rent dispute.

"These actions are extremely disappointing, given the current environment, and difficult to comprehend in the context of a relationship that spans close to 40 years," said Mosaic chairman Richard Facioni.

The closures are the latest manifestation of wider tensions between landlords and retail tenants over rent paid during coronavirus lockdowns. A spokesperson for Scentre Group told ABC News: "We don't comment on commercial arrangements with our retail partners."

Shareholders should be ‘slamming’ the Scentre Group board and CEO, because the rent rise actions in the current environment will lead to no rent and a loss of shareholder income when the shops are empty.

Blow-up in Tasmanian Parliament over allegations of 'anti-China' racismA bitter row over allegations of 'unconscious bias against China' spills over in Parliament, after a fiery exchange between Tasmania's Greens leader and the Liberal Speaker ended in a walkout. The Greens are worse than China btw. I have a bias against China but am certainly not racist. Criticism of a totalitarian regime is not racism. I believe, for example, that Taiwan is a great nation and that it is a pity that the Democratic Taiwanese Government does not rule all of China. China’s not a race.
