Sky News Chief News Anchor Kieran_Gilbert sat down for an exclusive interview with China’s ambassador to Australia, Cheng Jingye, who has called on Australia to remove the “harsh” travel ban.

China’s ambassador to Australia Cheng Jingye has called on Australia to remove “harsh” travel ban restrictions in the wake of the deadly coronavirus outbreak. In an exclusive interview with Sky News Chief Anchor Kieran Gilbert, Mr Cheng said the travel ban “unnecessarily” interfered with trade and travel and said Australia should be “coolheaded and not panic”.

“We have expressed our strong wish and hope that the Australian government in its next review will take into account the whole situation and take a balanced approach and consider removing those harsh restrictions or at least relax restrictions.” Mr Gilbert pointed out that China itself had taken extraordinary measures well beyond recommendations of the WHO by detaining millions of people in Wuhan and the broader Hubei province.

Kieran_Gilbert They need to keep the ban in place until this outbreak fizzles out. Too many infected tourists have entered our country and threatened our populations health. The death toll in China is growing so fast they can’t even keep up with the number of cremations.

Kieran_Gilbert Dont do it Australia

Kieran_Gilbert F*ck China -_-

Kieran_Gilbert Harsh! Bullshit. Shouldn't be allowing any one in that has gone into or through China. Just because his country is covered in filth and disease doesn't mean ours has to be.

Kieran_Gilbert The priority is to protect Australians not bow down to Chinese dictatorship.

Kieran_Gilbert We dont want this virus in Australia, sorry go jump

NO thanks China

Put wuhan aside, even the main streets in shanghai and beijing are dead quiet!

Nice try mate🙄

I’m with everyone that says no to this, we need to make changes this will effect us economically and life will change.

LiberalAus PeterDutton_MP the Australian population expects you to keep this country safe, THIS is your foremost obligation.🧐 travelbanmuststayinplace

Keep ya filthy bat eating disease to yourselves. If it was the other way round you’d ban flights from here. 🦇 🦇 🦇 🦇

Meanwhile up to 750,000,000 of their own are in lockdown or have travel restrictions within their own country. Apparently it's okay for them but not for us. Double standards again from the Chinese.

Before the removal there have to be comprehensive mitigation measures of which the most applicable one now is avoidance. Up until then when medicine towards treatment is in place travels can be acceptable.

Hmmmmm how about no , 🤨

And just who the hell does he think he is to dictate to us 😡😡I hate using Greta somebody’s words but “how dare you”

NO!!!

Nah thanks buddy....

What about China's harsh travel bans on it's own citizens?

Maybe your government should have acted quicker to contain. Now foreign governments have to.

why? not enough people getting infected?

What? Why would he want to possibly spread the coronavirus into Australia?

How about we remove him? Seriously. Fuck china.

Really?

Imagine if Australia tried to tell China what to do? They should just mind their own business. Bloody Cheek.

Better to be safe than sorry

Nope. And while we’ve got your attention, how about you give us a good honest look inside those Uighur ‘vocational training centres’ you’ve been bullshitting us about? UighurMuslims chinazi WuhanCoronovirus HongKong

Sky news fishing for racists again 🎣

Just mind your own business, you do not own Australia...oh hang on...

🤔🤔So; China LOCKS DOWN entire city's, use barbaric methods to segregate the sick; physically & violently put people into detention/segregation; BUT.... Lecture 'us' about protecting OUR people? HYPOCRICY

Stop all bloody flights it’s in Europe at the moment stop blaming China we are beyond that close the border
