This week, Donald Trump's Presidential campaign moves to the halls of the New York County Supreme Court.
Trump has been charged with 34 count of falsifying business records under New York Penal Law, a criminal charge in New York State. To prove the charges, prosecutors need to show the payment was incorrectly recorded in his business records. No US President has ever been charged with a crime, let alone convicted, so this is a big deal.
But prosecutors here are attempting to prove the falsifying of records was done with the intention of furthering a separate crime, which would raise this to a felony level crime. They want to prove this by showing that the payment to Stormy Daniels was recorded improperly to conceal an illegal Trump campaign donation, or that it was done to circumvent tax law.
Potential jurors are also asked which media outlets they read or watch, their hobbies, professions and educational backgrounds.Or if they're members of groups like QAnon, Proud Boys or Antifa. With cases against him in four states, at both the state and federal level, courts and American media outlets have become better practiced at covering his court hearings.
