Education Minister Dan Tehan admits he 'overstepped the mark' in criticising the Victorian Premier for failing to reopen schools in the state, contrary to federal advice.

Education Minister Dan Tehan admits he "overstepped the mark" in criticising the Victorian Premier for failing to reopen schools in the state, contrary to federal advice. Mr Tehan claimed Daniel Andrews took a "sledgehammer" to the education prospects of children in the state.

In a statement, he withdrew his comments, stating it was "frustration" that led him to "overstep the mark". Prime Minister Scott Morrison made it clear previously his desire was to see students return to school, however the need for unity in the National Cabinet made it clear Mr Tehan's comments were untenable. You were dead right

All this criticism coming from a man who was likely to be the most incompetent and pathetic Minister for Veterans Affairs we have ever had. Those in glass houses ......

And even thinking of letting international students back!!! What!!!!!!!! NO

Education Minister Dan Tehan showed himself for what he is - an autocratic loud mouthed bully

Keep this brain fart talking he is saying out loud what the rest of the Temple snakes are hizzing to themselves. Australians need to know there are two narratives now. The BS head simpleton is peddling and the behind Temple doors speak. Old weak sick poor, have no economic value.

I DONT THINK HE SHOULD HAVE APOLOGIZED !

Whoos

No he didn’t

Given current position, low city density by global standards, median age 37, and that we are an island, you'd have to be irrationally pessimistic to think we cannot keep death rate (currently 3ppl per Million) below the 1990s road toll (100 ppl per Million).

If telling the truth is 'overstepping', then yes he did.

So unbecoming watching a PM run riot from his mouth. Frustrating I doubt it. Playing Political games just because Labor in Victoria are a Solid state. Victoria's feel Confident with the Sound advice where provided. Federal have been inconsistent throughout.

If this was a labor minister Sky News would be calling for his resignation!!!!! Typical Murdoch right wing press!!!!!

ahhhhhhhhhhh no he didn't, he's just had enough of Australian education going backwards. Hate to be a Year 12 student in Melbourne right now, that needs that extra help! I wont lie, I needed it when completing Years 11 and 12, was at school 6 days a week to catch up!

Dan, I don’t think you overstepped the Mark as to the fact, just the language. Here’s the thing, I liked the language.

no way you overstepped the mark. You doing a great job. Your fighting for our kids education. Thank you

The criticism was justified.

He should do better on his own job. Online study program should be done properly then there is no worries about the lockdown or whatever the situation will be.

Good reason to get the states out of the way and have one gov

Never back down, always escalate. What is the point of the Liberal Party again? hopeless

He was just firing the PMs bullets. Of course Scumo sent him out loaded with the talking points.

Never apologise to a leftist Dan. They don't care if you're wrong they only want you to be weak.

Victorian Education Minister should reopen the Schools nothing wrong in saying that there is no further reason to keep schools closed because of Apossible threat thats unlikely to ever happen like it never happend re lockdown Aus Education Minister is being over thetop sensitive

Back to School? Disadvantaged pupils face six-month 'learning loss' WB: Police, aged care workers fire-fighters nurses & construction workers Etc R at work BUT Teachers Unions say NO to going back to work, Hmm?

He has to resign immediately.
