Daily testing of staff will begin today in a western Sydney aged care home to help stop infection rates from rising. 9News

Parts of the world are starting to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, but the new coronavirus will pose significant risks until vaccines are developed, the WHO's top emergencies expert says.

Executive director of the World Health Organisation's emergencies program Mike Ryan says while many countries are still in the eye of the storm, others are beginning to show it is possible to contain the disease to some extent."At a global level the situation is still very, very serious but the pattern of the disease and the trajectory of the virus is very different in different parts of the world right now," he said.

"What we're learning is that it is possible to get this disease under control and it is possible to begin resuming normal economic and social life, with a new way of having to do that, and with extreme caution and vigilance." However, some countries in Africa and in central and South America are still seeing "an upwards trajectory in cases", Ryan warned. More than 3.44 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 243,015 have died, according to a Reuters tally as of yesterday.

But late now that should have been done six weeks ago when found out that a workers was infected it's incompetence on the Anglicare organization they should be sued and shut down ..Religious bullshit

Can’t believe this is just starting now! Daily testing of staff in all aged care facilities should have been in place from the beginning of the outbreak.

Be kind, they must be sad and worried not seeing their families. GladysB it’s inhumane so it needs to be handled in a delicate way, imho

Staff to be tested daily as Newmarch House death toll rises to 14NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard announced that staff at Newmarch House will soon be tested daily in an attempt to manage the outbreak at the nursing home Isn't that what should be happening in all nursing homes and hospitals every day? And can it be done with all staff in schools too? With the test that gives quick results, not the two-day one? What they should be doing is evacuating that place !!! Its a death trap ! Close it down and get everyone out. It’s a death sentence to anyone in there.
