A researcher has made a grim yet fascinating discovery in Antarctica. 9News

Ornithologist Steve Emslie was exploring the coast of Antarctica's Ross Sea in 2016 when located both recently deceased penguins and remains believed to be thousands of years old.

"In all the years I have been doing this research in Antarctica, I've never seen a site quite like this," Professor Emslie said in a statement released by the Geological Society of America. When he located the guano, Professor Emslie found what looked like recently deceased penguins with their feathers still intact and other corpses that were old and mummified.
