The federal government says Australians will now have four weeks to provide feedback on the draft national plan to end violence against women after activists slammed the original two-week deadline.

Allowing only two weeks to provide feedback on a 10-year plan to end violence against women was dubbed as"ludicrous" by domestic violence groups. The federal government has responded to calls from thousands of Australians who have demanded more time to review the draft national plan to end violence against women and children.

"Minister Ruston contacted state and territory ministers who make up the Women's Safety Taskforce over the weekend and they have jointly agreed to extend the timeline for public comment by four weeks, particularly in light of the COVID-related workforce pressure the sector is under," the spokesperson said.

"As we have said throughout this 18-month process we are open to considering all feedback and following this issue being raised."On Friday the federal government released the draft plan that aims to set the foundation for a decade-long commitment to eliminate domestic and gender-based violence in the country.

geoffrey_payne You are now 'allowed' four weeks to provide feedback on ending violence against women say the mediocre white men in our current government. btw why has the trial of alleged rape victim, Ms Hggins not got media traction?

rayane_tamer Jess Lane is the founder of Women For Australia, not Jess Hill jessradio

Never forget to ask woman especially if she was a victim, sweet what did you say to your husband, did you push him too much? Why did he get so mad you started beating you up sweet?.if he's wrong than bury him beneath the prison, if shes on the wrong, than should do better next time

Leave feedback open until July 31 so a real government, and not the current evil overlordship can see to what proper action might be taken.

wow. how nice of them
