A Siberian hospital treating Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny is refusing to allow him to be moved to another better-equipped facility where he can get better care after a suspected poisoning, his spokesperson says.

The doctor, Alexander Murakhovsky, said there were five possible diagnoses of Mr Navalny's condition and that test results would be available within two days.Mr Navalny's allies want to take him out of the country to be treated, but Dr Murakhovsky said many legal questions would need to be resolved before that could happen.Mr Navalny's spokesperson, Kira Yarmysh, said the hospital deemed his relatives' desire to move him to another facility insufficient to justify such action.

"The ban on transporting Navalny is an attempt on his life being carried out right now by doctors and the deceitful authorities that have authorised it," Ms Yarmysh wrote on social media. She said doctors had previously consented to him being moved, but had withheld their agreement at the last minute.Russia to hold regional elections next month(
