“Disturbing” footage of a 16-year-old being beaten by a gang of 10 females in the middle of the street has been slammed by politicians., shows the teenager being kicked and stomped on in the middle of the street about 3am on Saturday, March 16.Northern Territory Police said a brawl had earlier broken out involving up to 50 people along Gregory Terrace and Hartley Street. However, the 16-year-old was not involved in the brawl before she attacked, according to police.
“I want this chamber, and the Australian public to know that traditional cultural payback, otherwise known as vigilantism, has no place in our society in 2024,” she said. She told the outlet she had met with Police Commissioner Michael Murphy to discuss the immediate deployment of extra police from the Territory Safety Division to Alice Springs.
Police said the 16-year-old took herself to Alice Springs Hospital after the attack, before leaving to the community of Yuendumu. She was later taken back to hospital for treatment.
