The brazen theft of 42,000 rapid antigen tests worth more than $500,000 in Sydney has been branded a ‘disgraceful act’.

Police were called after man entered the freight depot in Mascot about 3.20pm on Tuesday and “took possession” of the tests.Officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command have commenced an investigation.

The commonwealth and state governments have pushed for a transition from “gold standard” PCR testing, which requires time and labour-intensive laboratory work, to at-home rapid tests. RATs are proving hard to come by at retailers across Sydney. Picture: NCA NewsWire / Flavio Brancaleone

This is not news. The Federal Government is commandeering them from suppliers who have had to cancel orders. rats

But it’s okay when the Govt does it.

Who’d have thought, creating a commodity with little to no availability but highly sort after would be a target for theft.

Costs less than a dollar to make. Exaggerated numbers

Btw, worth more than 50 bitcoins

Why were they in a warehouse and not distributed to those who need them? What the hell is doing on?

Maybe it's Robin Hood.. stealing from the Government and giving to the poor

My wife just bought 5 tests fro $75, that's the real crime here.

And that's why they should be free. Remove the money value

Typical

But the fed govt intercepting all of the orders coming into the country isn’t?

Nothing compared to the biological terrorism inflicted on the citizens of this State by Domicron

Not as disgraceful as this Premier who couldn’t organise a Sunday school picnic. Doesn’t project any positive qualities to get anyone enthusiastic for our future. StepDown
