Independent Senator Rex Patrick says it is likely the submarine which disappeared of the Bali coast is “sitting on the sea floor” in the Java Sea.

“When a submarine is operating underwater whenever there is a problem the first reaction is normally to get to the surface, now the sorts of problems that would arise are things like flooding through to power failures,” he told Sky News. Mr Patrick said events like this are a “chilling reminder of how brave” submariners are and hopes the submarine will be rescued.

Australia should 'watch what other countries are doing' in space | Sky News AustraliaAustralia should “be watching closely what other countries are doing” as China waits to see where its discarded rocket booster will land, according to US Centre non-resident Fellow James Brown.\n\n“It’s rocket science but it’s not exact, it’s a pretty broad part of the world where this thing could land and I think it goes to the point that we need to be watching closely what other countries are doing,” he told Sky News. \n\nMr Brown said China had been “doing some really interesting things in space” in terms of both security and civilian space operations and they were contributing to the space junk problem.\n\n“We rely so much on this infrastructure in space for communications and things we do every day, we want to make sure we’re protecting it and Australia’s been pretty good in being active in international conversation on how to make sure space is protected.”\n

Australia 'left behind' despite national investment into digital economy | Sky News AustraliaDespite the government's announcement of a $1.2 billion investment as part of its Digital Economy Strategy, Australia is still 'behind' neighbouring countries who already invest more into AI than we do, according to Labor MP Ed Husic.\n\n'In respect to artificial intelligence a lot of countries have invested and announced major investments in this space because ... there's either a $15 trillion or $22 trillion economic uptick from this,' he told Sky News.\n\n'The bulk of this is going to accrue to two nations - USA and China - and so we've been left behind. \n\n'Because despite what was announced today, we still have neighbours in our region that are spending more than us on national investments in AI.\n\n'So there is potential there to get it right - it's an important economic and national security imperative to get this right - but this is a government that's big on announcement and always stuffs up on delivery.' No shit Sherlock. Just look at Australia’s NBN. Imagine how much further behind we'll be when the Morrison Government's Announceable of 'a $1.2 billion investment as part of its Digital Economy Strategy' proves to be as utterly lacking in substance, fake, and full of hot air as every OTHER Announceable from the Murdoch Party!

China further 'isolating’ itself by suspending economic dialogue with Australia | Sky News AustraliaDefence strategist Tyson Sara says China’s suspension of its economic accord with Australia comes after it ran out of exports to sanction and is “another step” in the communist power “isolating itself”. \n\nIn a statement on a Chinese government website, Beijing declared the decision was based on the current attitude of the Australian government towards China-Australia cooperation.\n\n“They’re not really going to sanction the stuff that they need, and we’ve seen record iron ore prices,” Mr Sara said.\n\n“They can sanction barley, they can sanction wine, they can do some of the things that hurt us that don’t hurt them. \n\n“I think they have run out of those economic levers for now - don’t ever rule it out - but taking this action is just another step in, I think, China isolating itself rather than strengthening its own position.' Is China isolating itself or Australia. Obvious answer. Why are Australia creating conflict with our biggest trading partner. We are a small country. What the hell is this government doing? 🤷🏻‍♂️
