Prime Minister Scott Morrison will warn the country to prepare for a “dangerous” post-coronavirus world as he announces hundreds of billions of dollars for the military.

Despite COVID-19 blowing a massive hole in the federal budget, the Prime Minister will reaffirm he will offer a 10-year funding model that goes beyond the current pledge to reach two per cent of GDP this year.

“Our region will not only shape our future – increasingly it is the focus of the dominant global contest of our age,’’ Mr Morrison says. Satellite images provided by Maxar Technologies shows construction in the Galwan river valley near the disputed border known as the Line of Actual Control between India and China.ANU Professor Paul Dibbs has previously flagged the $1.1 billion upgrade to the RAAF base at Tindal as pivotal, because it will lengthen the runway so that US B-52 strategic bombers as well as our own KC-30 air-to-air refuelling aircraft can operate from there.

“When the upgrade, including major runway extensions, fuel stockpiles and engineering support, is completed, Tindal will be the most potent military base south of Guam. And — for the time being at least — it is beyond the reach of Chinese conventional ballistic missiles.” “Relations between China and the United States are fractious as they compete for political, economic and technological supremacy.”

I thought we had no money left Jobkeeper etc to end, cant fund quarantine but can fund this?

A dangerous post corona world haha it's been a boiling pot of sh*t for many years now and war is undoubtedly around the corner. Its time Australia shored up its borders, reinforced its Navy and build some goddamn missile defense systems already!

Brilliant news

I think the people that are most disturbed by this are Australians not the Chinese military. Once we purchased all this new shiny stuff from the US it has to be continually replaced due to becoming obsolete. So we are committed for the long hall of expensive military spending

Who's the danger again?🙄

We increase spending on our military instead of investing in education, infrastructure, industry, science, technology etc... all would create more jobs & a better future. Japan's cancelled a US missile system order to save money, but we increase?! Our leaders are morons.

Good move for our regional security, as there has been a re-emergence of the Domino Theory that had been forgotten.

Can't shoot climate change scomo

What the hell is this turkey talking about now, this is another scam, trying to prove he is a strong leader, he's full of BS. BTY, how are the subs. progressing, let's have an update on these. Let's concentrate on REBUILDING the economy and not fear mongering 'dangerous' FFS.

Don’t listen to this scaremongering

Of course agenda 21 the new world order 🙄

OMG hark back to WWI - they’re coming down under to take over - WWII 🧐the Japanese are bombing Darwin and have Subs in Sydney Harbour 😱 Korea - there’s a Red under the bed - 2020 - let’s spend billions on the indefensible and let our people starve to death - mmmm sounds like...

Wowee that is a lot of cash.. what are we preparing for?

The only post coronavirus world we need to worry about is the world where you raid peoples wallets because you know, 'we're all in this together'..... like a bunch of borg drones hey scott ?

Trump says jump and scottmo says how high.. don’t be surprised if scottmo is dragging us into another shit war that supports America’s interests

Give us back our guns

Scott Morrison has not been truthful, increase to defence budget was agreed irrespective of Coronavirus. Considering hardship of Australian businesses and communities, USA also experiencing, could this hv been re-negotiated with funds retained in Australia.

Are you expecting war Mr ScottMorrisonMP ? I am sure that we can come out of this pandemic peacefully.

The increased military spending for the post covid chaos is actually for events planned later in the year that they are unable to discuss... But I have a leaked preview.

Increase of 38.7 bn announced back on 4th April 2019. Agreement with USA to continue support international based efforts. Aust Govt has committed to AUS 200 bn Investment over next decade until 2028-2029.

Australia can lead out of this to a more peaceful world. We must not let warmongers talk up war and hostility. We need to establish strong neutral diplomacy and as a populous reject this madness.

Blah blah..... what is PM trying to cover up this time 🙄 last week we were under a cyber attack!

Yep. 'Keep em Scared 101'!!

Allow citizens to faster access training and firearms please ScottMorrisonMP .

We need more women in the army so we can be as fearsome as this

Vic fighting 'second peak, not second wave' of COVID-19 | Sky News AustraliaDeputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Nick Coatsworth says Victorian health authorities have not lost control of the coronavirus situation as cases rise across the state. \n\nVictoria recorded nearly 100 new cases of the virus at the weekend during a suburban testing blitz as the Andrews government considers reinstating lockdowns to prevent a further surge in infections. \n\n“Out of control would imply large numbers of people sitting in hospital around Australia; there’s only 11 and one in an intensive care unit,” Mr Coatsworth told Sky News. \n\nHe said the Victorian government put “unprecedented” measures in place to curb the spread but he did not “doubt their capacity to bring this under control”. \n\n“The vast majority [of cases] are linked to known outbreaks in Victoria so the cases of community transmission where there are no links at all, which would be of concern, remain in the very small minority of those cases,” he said. \n\n“If you look at the epidemiological curve at the moment it’s better described as a second peak in Victoria’s cases that’s created several geographic outbreaks.” \n\nImage: Getty Semantics🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🦠🦠🦠😷😷😷 The Murray ain't wide enough we need to put up a fence and have it manned buy Australian defence personnel auapol Please listen to DrDoloresCahill and DrSherriTenpenny They say all of this testing, wearing masks, social distancing and lockdown must stop!!!!

Global COVID-19 death toll reaches 500,000 | Sky News AustraliaThe COVID-19 pandemic has reached a grim milestone as the global death toll hits 500,000. \n\nThe figure was almost on par with the annual number of influenza deaths around the world. \n\nMore than 10 million cases of the coronavirus were recorded world wide. \n\nImage: AP And meanwhile, global influenza deaths have plummeted. Gee, it's almost as though all these deaths have just been re-designated 'COVID-19' to help justify this scamdemic. REMINDER: The PCR test being used has a 80% false-positive rate, and CANNOT specifically isolate SARS-CoV-2. Fake News Grim? Relatively speaking, perhaps. But more children will die this year from accidental overdoses and medical errors than from Covid-19. Will that ever be classed as a pandemic?
