The round five AFL fixture is set to be redrawn, with Richmond no longer meeting West Coast due to Queensland government concerns over rising COVID-19 case numbers in Victoria | EXCLUSIVE

The round five fixture is set to be partly redrawn, with Richmond likely to play Melbourne and West Coast to play Sydney because of Queensland government concerns over Victoria's rising coronavirus infection rates.

Richmond and West Coast had been due to meet on Thursday night at Gold Coast's Metricon Stadium but a senior source at one of the involved clubs confirmed that the Tigers were now likely to take on Melbourne in Victoria this weekend, while the Swans will play the Eagles, probably on the Gold Coast.Credit:In addition, St Kilda is expected to take on Carlton on Thursday night. That match was originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Some Richmond members were informed on Monday morning that ticket sales for the West Coast match had been frozen."Please note that there has been a hold on the 9am ticket on sale for our round five game at Metricon Stadium against the West Coast Eagles. "We apologise for the inconvenience and will be in contact with all eligible members with further information as soon as it becomes available.""With the easing of crowd restrictions in Queensland, we are delighted to allow our Tiger Army the opportunity to attend our round five clash v West Coast at Metricon Stadium on Thursday, July 2," the club told members.

The AFL and Richmond were both contacted for comment. The Tigers referred the matter to the AFL, while several league officials are yet to respond.

The truth is the game sucks. It's had its day. And if it wasn't for the money involved in broadcasting the trash, it wouldn't be on.

Just cancel the most compromised season ever of a glorified local game....

Wow that was close Eagles

She needs a slap

That is totally unacceptable and ridiculous! AFL players are the most checked for the virus than anyone!
